Tidbits from Tim

Tim Hackett - Owner, Long Beach Lodge Resort

December 2023

I think, with reservations, it may finally be time to reveal a closely held Tofino secret. Insiders know to visit over the winter months! While storm season is highly promoted, what isn’t is the secret of lot's of nice days with sun that we enjoy over our winter, as evidenced by our sunset photo, taken in November. Over the winter months, there may be a storm, which is a site to behold, but there are also so many beautiful beach days with incredible sunsets. Other advantages to a winter visit are cheaper room rates, less people around, as compared to summer, cozy rooms with fireplaces and great winter food and wine menus!   Tim Hackett - Owner, Long Beach Lodge Resort

We are having a very busy winter, making all sorts of improvements to our lodge rooms and cottages, as we do every closure. This year, we are also building a new staff housing building that will add single-room accommodations for many of our valued staff. Additionally, for our guests, we are building a beautiful new spa, gym, and laundry. I believe that the spa was our one missing link. I look forward to our spa opening early next year.

As you may be aware, we are closed over the holidays to give our staff a well-deserved break to refresh and spend time with family and friends—something very uncommon in the hospitality business! With the year coming to an end, we want to thank you for being our guests. We are incredibly appreciative that you choose to visit us. I genuinely hope that we meet all your expectations and that you continue having wonderful visits. On behalf of our whole team, thank you and best wishes for the holidays and 2024.

Best wishes,
Tim

"One of the best “experience” hotels we’ve stayed in"
2024-10-29
We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a 14 day road-trip from Ireland and all I can say is that it was absolutely amazing. The staff were all so welcoming, friendly and attentive. We stayed in room 313 which was on the top floor overlooking the beach with a balcony. Truth be told, the hotel was so good we didn’t venture far over the 3 days, instead opting to just “relax” at the hotel walking the beach or sitting outside at the gas fires taking in the ambience and the surfers catching the waves. The food and service in the restaurant was amazing, I would even go so far to say it was the best food we’ve had in a long time at a hotel! If having food at the hotel, make sure you book a table at the restaurant before 6pm and maybe even arrive a little early. They will not reserve the window seats, but to get the best view of the sunset over the pacific - trust me, it’s where you want to be sitting. Cocktails were also very good. If getting a snack during the day you can get it at the Surf Club which is a few steps from the main building. After dinner we just retired to the bedroom with the gas fires going, patio doors open and enjoying a bottle of wine while listening to the waves crash on the beach. We didn’t do breakfast at the hotel any of the mornings as we wanted something “light” opting instead for the delights from the cafe & bakery Tofitian just a few minutes up the road. As an “experience”, it was hands down one of the best hotels I’ve visited in Canada/US. The team should be very proud.
"3 Nights at Longbeach Lodge"

Excellent stay. Room was awesome. Dealt with power outage while in town, staff was great with the whole situation. Only thing I would write is that lighting in great room/dining room/bar could be more welcoming/better in my humble belief. Asked to come in for a drink and sat next to the water (which was great), but would be cool if bar was less staff-oriented and more open to sitting.

The hotel was great .. good location, staff very pleasant and helpful. My only criticism was that the fragrance of the bath gel, body lotion etc was quite unpleasant, a bit like disinfectant.
