We're Taking Back the Tap

Here at Long Beach Lodge, we've made great efforts to reduce the use of single-use plastics. We're now inspired once again to go further with the Surfrider Foundation's latest campaign that encourages people of the Pacific Rim to take back the tap and ditch single-use water bottles.

Tofino's drinking water is sourced from the wild coastal watershed within the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nations Tribal Park on wanačis ḥiłhuuʔis (Meares Island). Thick mosses and old growth forests naturally filter the rains that descend upon Colnet and Lone Cone Mountains. Pristine creek water flows into the reservoir, through pipes deep beneath the Tofino inlet, is treated and poured fresh out the taps of coastal homes and businesses.

'Take Back the Tap' while you're visiting us by bringing your own reusable water bottle for easy and free refills from the many faucets at Long Beach Lodge and around the community. You'll also find newly installed water fountains conveniently scattered along the multi-use path (MUP) that runs from the Lodge to downtown.

Help us reduce the number of plastic water bottles washing ashore; polluting our beaches and wreaking havoc on our coastal ecosystems. Now's the time to Take Back the Tap!
